In an attempt to achieve this, they come up with innovative and useful technological advancements that make using their products a pleasure. Similarly, Reliance has some really good safety and performance enhancing features like FVIR, Flame Arrestor etc to name a few. Let’s find out some more about what these features are:
- FVIR Technology: Flammable Vapor Ignition Resistant is a technology present in 30, 40 and 50-gallon gas water heaters. This technology meets the latest standards mandated by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) for safety.
- Flame Arrestor: this is a safety measure that is designed to allow waste gases to flow into atmosphere, while preventing heat flames from escaping in case of vapor ignition.
- Thermal Cutoff (TCO): a thermal cutoff switch shuts the heating unit down in event of extremely high temperature, which can be caused due to improper combustion inside the chamber.

I DO NOT recommend this hot water heater. We have had it for one week and have nothing but problems. The first day the water was so hot it would have burned you very badly. The next day no hot water at all. After a week of reseting the the reset button, we went back to where we purchased it. They told us it was probably a bad thermostat. They gave us the part because it is covered under the parts warranty. But we will have to pay to get it fixed after paying to have it installed already.
DON”T BUY THIS JUNK !!! Unless you like taking cold showers.
I have been very satisfied with my 1212; in the 2+ years I have had it, it’s given consistently evenly heated water, runs reliably, and was reasonably priced. Very pleased.
