  1. I DO NOT recommend this hot water heater. We have had it for one week and have nothing but problems. The first day the water was so hot it would have burned you very badly. The next day no hot water at all. After a week of reseting the the reset button, we went back to where we purchased it. They told us it was probably a bad thermostat. They gave us the part because it is covered under the parts warranty. But we will have to pay to get it fixed after paying to have it installed already.
DON”T BUY THIS JUNK !!! Unless you like taking cold showers.

  2. I have been very satisfied with my 1212; in the 2+ years I have had it, it’s given consistently evenly heated water, runs reliably, and was reasonably priced. Very pleased.

  3. I will never buy from this company again and will never take the word of a MDU repair guy either. We knew our hot water heater was a goner so was going to trot over to Lowes and get a new one. Had to have MDU come in and fix some questionable work by the previous owners and with speaking with him my husband is told the brand we were going to get is nothing but trouble but he has had nothing but good to say about the Relience. So he calls over to Ace Hardware and has one set aside for us. I grilled the guy selling us this jewel, told how great they are and how they take care of any problems you could have.

We obviously weren’t sold the same Reliance they were talking about because here it is less than 2months later and the pilot won’t re-light. Told to call the tech, no return call, called customer service again and told to go to the unit and figure it out over the phone. Given the part number to take to Ace to order, husband looks at directions and doesn’t want to mess with this thing (it is a faulty wire?). Calls again the customer service and told they won’t pay for a repair guy to put this thing in! Now Ace is paying the bill themselves and having a professional group come in and install this part. Can only hope that it was the right answer to the problem. Two weeks of no hot water has soured me to this company.

Moral to the story? Go to Home Depot or Lowes. Or even a trusted plumber and if the name Reliance creeps in… fire the guy!

  4. We purchased a reliance hot water heater 14 months ago… had no problem during that time… since then on 8/12/15 or hot water heater pilot light went out…won’t stay lite…had plumber out he said needs new thermal cupliar…contacted reliance they had us go thru all kinds of crap and didn’t believe our plumber…we pay for 2 day shipping for thermal cupliar don’t get it til 4th day…changing that out didn’t fix it…so now call them back plumber says get control panel…pay for 2 day shipping don’t get it as paid for…get that changed out…Still won’t stay lite after about 15 mins pilot lite goes out and won’t come back on… so now we contact propane man to come. Check out regulator and venting…He says no problem with any of these… call back to reliance they say oh u have to have a special cleaning brush to clean filter on hot water heater we will get that in mail to u which they pd for this time…5 days later get that plumber comes back out for like the 6th time to clean everything with there cleaning kit…lights hot water heater but after 15mins it goes out and won’t relite..this has gone on for right at a month…my husband and I call reliance this a.m. and talk to a supervisor only to be told now it’s probably the venting in our roof… NO ITS NOT… took vent off roof already and it wasn’t dirty..cleaned it anyways..Reliance doesn’t want to admit it but this hot water heater is BAD . if it was a venting problem why did it work for the 1st 13 months…I DON’T RECOMMEND this hot water heater..
