The Paloma PH6 tankless hot water heater is a smaller unit than most models produced by this company, and runs on natural gas only. It does not have the remote controller, but because of it’s small size, it is ideal for work shops, stables, and your office, so it really doesn’t need one.

The Legacy 6 will provide water at 70 degrees above regular water temperature at 1GPM, or one hundred degrees at .7GPM. It adjusts the water flow without modulating the combustion, giving you consistent water temperatures.

You can easily turn off the pilot when you aren’t using it, so this is the most economical heater for remote applications. This unit costs just under $600.

The PH28RIFS Paloma Residential indoor tankless hot water heater comes with a lot of features. It does include the remote controller and extra remote options. It can also be connected to another unit using a DUOnex connector cable.

This model also has electronic spark ignition, so there isn’t any pilot light. It has freeze protection down to minus 30, and a draft back flow prevention device as well. It includes a ten foot 120v power cord, and wall mounting hardware.

Now, here are some unique safety features, only found on this system. It is equipped with an Oxygen depletion system, for the indoor model, which constantly samples emissions from the burners, and if it detects a build up in carbon monoxide, it will either adjust the exhaust fan, or should the burner down completely.

The other feature is the Film Type Overheat Sensor. Waiwela senses high temperatures in all position around the combustion area, not just one, like many other manufacturer’s do.

These two features, plus all the extras, make this Paloma tankless water heater an ideal unit for all residential applications, and costs just $1120 retail, but can be found less at some online dealers.

  1. After two years, we still can’t get any hot water when we want it. It has always been hit or miss. It fires up for a second,, then shuts off. I’ve had repair company look at it, couldn’t figure out the problem. I’ve spent a lot of money on this unit and repairs. Now my family is begging me to get a tank, which I am.

  2. I have a PH28 and I had the same problem 1.5 years into installation. The part was fixed under warranty but I paid $300 labor. Now another 1.5 years after the first time having the same problem, It is happening again. There is definitely an inherent quality problem with this Paloma Tankless Water Heater.
